Priorities
Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness
From fire threats on the hillside and flood risk in the lowlands, to Public Safety Power Shutdowns and other threats that impact our entire community, it is imperative that the Town ensure our residents and businesses are prepared for emergencies. I will continue to ensure that we’re taking every step to reduce the risk of disaster, especially with respect to flood mitigation, fire threats, and emergencies that impact the electrical grid. As your representative on the Ross Valley Fire Board and Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority, I have taken action to ensure our Town’s resiliency to fire threats, including vegetation management and defensible space programs, evacuation planning, and making sure that the Town and our public safety providers have the tools they need to support our community in times of crisis. I will continue to make this a top priority.
A Thriving Downtown
Our downtown is alive like never before and our Town is vibrant as ever. As the current Vice-Mayor, I have been proud to vote in support of programs like the weekends street closure on San Anselmo Ave., concerts in the park, outdoor dining and parklets, that have made San Anselmo THE place to be in Marin. I will continue to seek thoughtful and collaborative ways to support our downtown vitality and support our local businesses.
Addressing Climate Change
San Anselmo has become a leader in addressing climate change. It will be important to continue to take action and identify meaningful and practical solutions to improve our Town’s resiliency to climate change for generations to come. I will continue to prioritize expansion of the Town’s solar infrastructure, implementing measures to expedite the transition to electric vehicles, and ensuring our Town vehicles and facilities are as close to carbon neutral as possible.
Roads, Parks & Infrastructure
For a small Town like San Anselmo, ensuring that our roads and infrastructure are up to date, safe and able to accommodate our population and the scores of people who visit our Town everyday will always be a priority. Our parks and public spaces have played a key role in San Anselmo becoming one of the most vibrant places in Marin, which has led to economic vitality. It will be important to continue to focus attention on our infrastructure and public spaces to ensure the vibrancy and economic success of our Town.
Opportunities for Our Children & Elders
I will continue to seek ways to provide enriching opportunities for all members of our community, particularly our elders and children. From toddlers, to middle-schoolers and teens, it is important that we provide engaging programs and safe places for our children to gather. We must also ensure that we are providing meaningful social engagement opportunities for our elders, particularly those whose social networks have diminished and may need support and community. Programs like the San Anselmo Age Friendly Task Force, “On the Avenue” street closures and concerts, garden and park work parties, and our annual Town Easter Egg Hunt directly address this need, while enhancing the vibrancy of our Town. I have been proud to support these programs as a member of the Town Council and will continue to work towards programs and policies that enhance the lives of everyone in our community.
